I thought there would not be anything beyond Teston street in Maple. I was wrong. Sunday night I delivered a meal to a guy living there. I could not even find him at beginning. The house is off the road. I had to call him to get instructions. I named him and his house the Northern Pole.

That was not too bad. It is still connected to the city. Last night, there was something farther. One guy in 15470 Jane street called a delivery. My boss told me that was really far, he would do it if I did not want. I took it.

When I got to the complete dark, no light with occasional traffic, I felt terrified. That was too lonely, with so many possibilities, dangerous, and unknowns.

The street # sign was clear besides Jane, therefore I found the place no problem. Right beside the road is a gate. I stopped and opened the gate. There are two houses in about 50 meters off the road. I went to the closer one. Someone looked out from the window. Very horrible. Before I got to the door, the door opened and a guy asked me, "what is it? Food?" I said yes and he said, "it is the next door. You can see it. The light." I said thanks and turned to the other house.

I knocked at the door. A thin young guy opened the door. The room was filled with the smell of marijuana. He has a little dog, a talking bird, and a girlfriend. The dog kept barking on me. I said, "a little dog." The guy said, "he is a big dog." That was controversial to the obvious. The bird kept talking. The girl looked back at me from her shoulder, without saying anything. He paid and tipped me.

That was some place that one does not want to stay any longer. So I quickly left.

There were police picket lines a few steps away. I heard a voice, "someone was killed here."

That was the paranoia, but the feeling is horrible.

I would not want to live in a place like that and order food from another city. In a call that I made to a friend, I called that place "something further north from the Northern Pole".

Quickly scanned through the American map and tried to find somewhere that I like and that I would possibly moved to. I had a few choices - New York, Buffalo, and California. New York is well known and I have a friend living there. It is a good one to choose. A classmate is in California. Buffalo is near Canada. I opened the map of New York city. Wow! It is such a big city.

Where should I go?

The map files downloaded are not good enough for me. I could not find the place where I live. And, I could not find the place where I work. That is the problem because I need to find the meal delivery destination. Fortunately I found pocket streets 2005. Even better, I found a downloadable Streets & Trip 2007, which can create custom maps for pocket streets.

I went to work when the downloading was on. It is 1.18 GB.

Now I have created a great map file for vaughan, and a huge one for the metro Toronto. And by the way, I can create one for the whole North America. :)

UNIX or linux have a C compiler named gcc or icc. Does windows vista have one? With this doubt I searched for it on the web and I found "VC++ 2008 beta 2". It is a free testing version ready for download.

This reminded me of the years that I was learning from Mr. Simino(ironically I cannot spell his name correctly), a high school computer and math teacher. He taught me BASIC language when I did not know anything about computer. I liked his class so much that when everyone is in the gym watching the volleyball game, I was in the computer lab doing his assignments. I was so happy when I solved every puzzle.

That was BASIC. C is more fun. An example:

     while ( c != 0)

            c++;

can be written

   while (c)

          c++;

or simply,

   while (c++);

It is really neat.

And the bubble sort, the tree sort, and the quick sort are really interesting algorithms, which is learned from BASIC.

Since this application is so nice, I decided to use the time before bed, to write more. I had a paranoia that I can write every day or every other day. I know that soon I will be tired and have nothing to say. But anyway, today is the day.

I really want to record something in this blog. Long time ago when I was busy with work, I wanted to write down whatever I did. But I failed. Not so long ago, I thought that if I could put the digital pictures that I took in different occasions, it would make the blog something worth viewing. Later on when I thought to make my life valuable, I should become a professional song writer. So I uploaded all my songs on a website and made links in this space. Now the song writer thing become last night's dream. oh well, maybe I still have a little bit hope on that. But who is confident in that.

And now, I am writing this. This can not be nothing. At least, it has a connection with Chinese chess. Although I can not prove the connection(well, how to prove a "connection"? but, if I think there is a connection, there must be a connection. At least, in a mind.), I believe that everything I do after playing chess for 4 hours is partly related to it.

I've put my music, oh yeah! they are my music and I put a lot of work on them. I've put my music on chinaren.com. But I really want my music to be here. Media player can only handle one piece. I hope I can get more pieces on now with this application. Here they are... and they don't work that way either. :(

All because of that cup of coffee, I ended this night up till now and I decide to check out windows vista - I thought there would be something like windows 95 plus, which will get me a lot of fun stuff. I did one search on goggle.ca for "windows vista". Just that one search, and I found Windows Live. I downloaded it and installed. ... Here now I am.

I like it. Windows live mail is just the way I wanted. Windows Mail does not support web based hotmail account, but this one does. The Live writer is perfectly designed and connected to msn space that I don't have to open the space and click on customize any more. This really enables us a little bit.
